Tablets can now be powered directly through Ethernet cables, eliminating the clutter of power cords and adapters. Moreover, connecting tablets to Ethernet ensures a reliable and high-speed data connection.

    Which PoE is Right For You?

    A few tips on how to pick the right tablet, PoE, and mount for your application:

    1. Pick the screen size you need. Most tablets over 10” require 18-25 watts to run. Most tablets under 10” can run on 12 watts.
    2. Why is that important? That will determine what type of PoE adapter and PoE switch you need. Tablets under 10” can run on IEEE 802.3af or normal PoE. Tablets over 10” will need IEEE 802.3at or PoE+. You want to make sure you have the right PoE switch or injector for that.
    3. Pick the mount that fits your application. You can use desk mounted, wall mounted on the wall, or wall mounted flush to the wall with a box to hold everything in the back.

    The biggest variable is Samsung because, at least in years past, not all Tabs had USB data on the data port, but more and more devices are having it built in.
