Depending on your lock screen security settings, you may have different options.

If you didn’t set lock screen security or set the security as swipe, you cannot enforce a password for unpinning.

If you set PIN, lock pattern or password for the lock screen, you can optionally enable “Ask for PIN before unpinning” as shown below before tapping Start.

h. Screen Pinning is now working!

When the screen pinning is working, if you try to tap Home, Back or Overview buttons, or try to swipe down to read notifications (which are always blocked anyway), you will get the notification on how to unpin the app as shown below (“To unpin this screen, touch and hold Overview“).

Step 3 - End session

You have two ways to exit screen pinning in Android Lollipop.

Method 1: Tap and hold overview button.

Method 2: Tap overview and back buttons simultaneously.

Both methods work in an identical way. If you request password for unpinning when pinning the app, you will be directed to the lock screen to proceed.

Tip 2 - If Screen Pinning is not enough.

Some newer Android devices have a feature called Screen Pinning that locks the foreground app in place to prevent users from roaming too far. But this still allows them to interact with the screen, which might lead to accidental pausing and seeking while playing their favorite video.

Step 1 - Install Touch Lock

It's available for free on the Google Play Store, so go ahead and get it installed.

Step 2 - Permit usage access

Open and setup the app, make sure you permit access so that the app can make changes on your device.

So tap the "Enable Now" button when prompted, then you'll be taken to a system settings menu. From here, select Touch Lock from the list, then on the following screen, enable the switch next to the "Permit usage access" option, and you'll be all set to go.

Simply swipe down from the top of your screen and tap the Touch Lock notification, then your screen will instantly be locked. Touching the screen at this point won't do anything. Then, when you take the phone back, you can unlock the screen by double-tapping the small, semi-transparent icon on the right side of your screen.
