Tips and Tricks for your iPad Kiosk

Tip 1 - Use Guided Access

Guided Access limits your iOS device to a single app and lets you control which features are available. iPads all over the globe are now being used in a variety of applications. From a commercial setting to a hospitality setting. Serving the role as information kiosks, digital displays and/or mobile Points of Sale.

Step 1 - Enable Guided Access

a. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access.

For the unfamiliar; the iPad will put itself to sleep and turn the screen off when it’s not in use after a short amount of time, this mechanism is the default because it helps to preserve battery life and can improve device security.

Step 1 - Edit Display Auto-Lock

To eidit auto-lock, head to Settings > Accessability > Guided Access > Display Auto-Lock - then select a period of time for your device to 'auto-lock'

Tip 3 - Brightness

iPads offer an auto-brightness option in the iOS settings called 'true tone' which uses the device’s ambient light sensor to detect the light levels in the room and automatically adjust the display brightness accordingly. But sometimes iOS’s “guess” at what the iPhone’s brightness should be isn’t what you want.

Step 1 - Adjust Auto Brightness

To disable auto-brightness, head to Settings > Display & Brightness - from here you can turn 'true tone' on or off and adjust the brightness of your screen.
